Two therapies, working together

Dr. Hung combines evidence-informed modalities, tailored to your scar’s age, texture, and your body’s response.

Intralesional B12 Injection

Vitamin B12 is injected directly into the scar tissue to promote softening, reduce fibrosis, and restore sensation. This is an off-label, naturopathic application of B12 with promising outcomes for hypertrophic and tethered scars. Effects may begin to show 1–3 weeks after treatment.

Acupuncture

Targeted needling around and along the scar supports local circulation, additional points are used to help with nervous system regulation and stimulate the body’s natural healing response. It complements the injection by addressing broader tissue and energetic patterns.

Herbal & Topical Support

Depending on your presentation, Dr. Hung may also recommend Chinese herbal medicine or a topical preparation to support tissue repair between visits.

Dr. Hung will assess your scar’s age, type, texture, mobility, and symptoms — including pain, numbness, pulling, or any emotional component. There is no pressure or rush.

2.  Tailored Treatment Plan

Based on your scar and your goals, Alex will recommend a treatment series — typically several visits spaced a few weeks apart.

3.  Treatment Visits

Each visit includes a brief check-in, B12 injection into the scar tissue, and acupuncture. Herbal or topical support may also be included.

4.  Progress Tracking

We use a structured approach to track changes in sensation, mobility, appearance, and your personal experience. Your feedback guides every next step.

Is it too late to treat an old scar?

No. Scar tissue remains responsive to treatment even years or decades after an injury or surgery. The approach may differ for older scars, and Dr. Hung will account for that in your plan.

Does the B12 injection hurt?

The injection is delivered directly into the scar tissue, which often has reduced sensation. Most patients report mild discomfort. Dr. Hung will walk you through every step and check in throughout the visit.

What types of scars respond best?

Hypertrophic scars, tethered scars, and scars with neuropathic symptoms tend to show strong responses. Atrophic and keloid scars may also benefit, though the approach will be adapted accordingly. Dr. Hung will be honest with you about what to realistically expect.

Will my insurance cover this?

B12 for scar reduction is considered off-label and is often not covered by insurance. This service is typically offered as a cash-pay treatment. We’re happy to discuss pricing structure at your consultation.

How many visits will I need?

This varies by scar type, age, and how your body responds. Dr. Hung will give you a realistic picture after your first few visits. Progress is tracked at every session so we can adjust together.
