Planning for pregnancy can sometimes feel overwhelming. In the age of the internet, health gurus and social media ‘life hacks’ it can feel hard to know who and what to trust. At Lilac, our providers have dedicated their life’s work to understanding how to support people and their health goals.
We offer planning appointments where you can meet with a certified professional midwife or a Naturopathic doctor to have the process demystified, answer all your questions and leave you with clear next steps in your family planning process. Great for couples, those planning to be a solo parent, use banked sperm, eggs, IUI or IVF. This appointment can also be helpful for those who are looking into surrogacy or even adoption.
Once you have your plan in place, we can continue to support you through lab work, stress reduction, health optimization, intrauterine intimation services, education, and early pregnancy/two week window support with acupuncture and massage. We’re here to be your best support throughout your journey.
Preconception Planning
Our preconception planning appointments are held with either a midwife or a naturopath who can help you create a holistic care plan focused on getting pregnant in the coming months. We recommend this appointment about 3-4 months prior to when you would like to become pregnant. In this appointment your provider will go over your history, ask questions, answer questions and create a plan that will most likely include labor work and ultrasounds to start and then schedule follow up appointments and complimentary services as they apply to your specific needs.
IUI Consultation
IUI services are offered by a licensed and skilled midwife who has received specific training in performing inseminations. If you are using donor sperm, we ask that you leave it in the cryo tube and bring the whole thing into the office for things to thaw during your appointment to ensure the best chance possible. We ask that you call or text at your first sign of ovulation to set possible insemination appointments so that Jamie has you on her schedule and can text directly with you for best timing. The goal is to inseminate about 12 hours prior or into the ovulation window.
Preconception Acupuncture
Preconception and fertility acupuncture is gentle, safe, and empowering. Each treatment is individualized and holistic. Our acupuncturists take the time to hear your personal story and goals for conception. We combine traditional Chinese medicine with modern medicine for those using assisted reproductive technologies, and offer nutritional, supplement and herbal consultation. Whether you are just beginning your journey and are preparing, body and mind, for pregnancy, are working through fertility challenges, or have experienced loss, acupuncturists at Lilac Family Care can help guide you through this season with experience, compassion and dedication.
Doula Services
Doula care: 20 hours of high quality provider care and education prenatal, at your birth and postpartum. With over 15 years of experience in the birth world, midwife Jamie is offering her skills and experience for clients who are looking to add the supportive nurturing of a midwife to their complex perinatal experience. This service is great for those who are considered high risk, have previous trauma impacting their pregnancy, expect a medically complex newborn, or having a VBAC or planned cesarean and a strong desire to breastfeed their baby.
With 5 hours earmarked for prenatal education and planning, you can walk into your birth knowing you have a well rounded care plan and the knowledge to meet the birth experience with curiosity and power, no matter what happens.
10 hours are allotted for birth support giving you laser focused attention when you need it most and ensuring you and your baby get the most out of those early moments, whatever they look like.
5 hours are then ensured for postpartum support which include symptom assessment, newborn care and education, birth story processing, lactation support, newborn CST care and generalized check ins for the first 3 months. Additional hours can be added to this package at $75/hr in three hour increments.
